For private pay, assisted living homes range between $1,800.00 to $4,000.00 per month. Nursing homes generally begin at $3,500 and up depending on the level of care of the resident.

All assisted living facilities are inspected on a yearly basis by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Assisted living care homes are also commonly called, group homes, board and care homes, and assisted living residential homes. Assisted living care homes are licensed for up to 10 residents. They are private, single-family homes that provide a home-like setting for their residents. Families may have a choice between a semi-private or private bedroom for their loved one. A bed, reading lamp and nightstand are provided as a minimum while many homes also offer a dresser or tv as well. Many residents choose to bring their own chairs that they are able to sit in comfortably. Many assisted living homes have been retrofitted to provide wheelchair ramps, grab bars, walk in showers and other amenities that allow seniors to remain as independent as possible. Meals are served family-style in the kitchen or dining room and common areas of the home are for the residents to enjoy as well as their guests.
